Assam’s Kaliabor Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday claimed that the Narendra Modi led BJP government at the Centre has started a ‘Nirma washing powder service’ for members of rival political parties.
He claimed that the ‘Nirma washing powder service’ is being used by many Congress politicians to join the BJP blaming the former party in the name of corruption.
Gogoi also claimed that just as the popular washing powder Nirma is used to remove stains from dirty clothes, the ‘Nirma washing powder service’ had been used by many former Congress politicians to ‘wash away previous corruption stains’.
According to Gogoi, many former Congress politicians from Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Goa and now Maharashtra have availed the ‘Nirma washing powder service’ to join BJP.
He tweeted, “Since 2014 PM Modi and HM Amit Shah has started Nirma washing powder service. Join the party and wash away your previous corruption stains. Many from Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Goa and now Maharashtra have availed this facility within BJP.”
It may be mentioned that a number of Congress politicians had quit the party to join BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections citing reasons of ‘improper functioning’ of Congress.
Former IAS officer MGVK Bhanu and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Deb Barman had also recently resigned from the Congress party.
