Nitin Nabin will visit Tinsukia and pay tribute at the Maidam of Matak king Sarbananda Singh

Dibrugarh: The newly elected BJP national president Nitin Nabin will visit Dibrugarh on February 18 to attend a Prista Pramukh Sanmelan at Khanikar.BJP state president Dilip Saikia confirmed Nabinโ€™s two-day tour to Upper Assam beginning February 18.

Saikia visited Dibrugarh on Sunday to review preparations for the programme.Speaking to reporters, Saikia said Nabin will reach Dibrugarh on February 18 and participate in the Prista Pramukh programme at Khanikar field.

On February 19, he will visit Tinsukia and pay tribute at the Maidam of Matak king Sarbananda Singh.โ€œThis will be Nitin Nabinโ€™s first visit to Dibrugarh and Tinsukia after assuming office. He will take part in several organisational programmes,โ€ Saikia said.He added that the party will organise a BJP zonal meeting where members from seven to eight districts will participate.

The leadership will also hold a meeting with leading citizens of Dibrugarh.Saikia further said that Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the Prista Pramukh Sanmelan in Dibrugarh on February 18.Ahead of the Assam Assembly polls, Nabinโ€™s visit to Upper Assam assumes significance.

According to party sources, he will meet mandal presidents from 18 mandals across six constituencies in Dibrugarh district to chalk out a roadmap for the upcoming elections.The BJP had won most of the Upper Assam seats in the last Assembly elections. Party leaders said they are aiming to retain and expand their hold in the region in the forthcoming polls.
