Assam boat tragedy: Dr. Bikramjit Baruah’s body recovered in Majuli

After recovery of the body of Indreshwar Bora, who was a passenger of the ill-fated boat that met with an accident near Nimati Ghat in Jorhat recently, the body of Dr. Bikramjit Baruah, another passenger, was recovered in river Brahmaputra in lower Majuli.

The body with a black shirt, which has been identified as that of Dr. Bikramjit Baruah, a doctor in Majuli.

Dr. Baruah was also on the boat during the accident on September 8, 2021.

A sensation continued as he went missing following the incident.

The body has been identified in presence of high-level officials of the Majuli district.

A team of officials rushed to the spot in Bhekeli Chapori of Majuli, where the body was noticed by locals.

Dr. Baruah, who was a resident of Borigaon in Jorhat, was an ENT specialist. He is survived by his father, wife Dr. Arunima Borah, and two children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Baruah’s bag containing RC, ID card has been recovered in Biswanath’s Bhasatapu.
