Bringing laurels to the state, Assam’s Lucky Das bagged a bronze medal at the Junior Pencak Silat Championship that concluded recently in Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab.
Lucky is a student of Chungajan High School in Golaghat district of Assam.
She won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category and brought laurels to the state with her remarkable achievement.
She is being trained by coach Gagan Chandra Boro.
In the championship held from August 18 to August 21 last and organized by Pencak Silat Association of Punjab, Manipur won the team champions title at the junior level.
The team won eleven medals including seven gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Nagaland bagged eight medals including five gold and three bronze medals.
A number of players from various states and union territories participated at the Junior Pencak Silat Championship 2019.
Pencak Silat is a form of martial art which involves striking, grappling and throwing of the participants in addition to weaponry and is said to have originated in Indonesia.
