As regards the mutant variant strain of Covid-19 that has been causing havoc in India, doctors said that more and more young individuals are getting infected by the virus.
“This time we have witnessed severe symptoms among the infected cases that we received. About 70 per cent of the positive people are asymptomatic,” Sarma said.
“In case of the original strain people had suffered from symptoms like fever, cough with their condition gradually deteriorating. However, this time once a person tests positive to the variant strain of Covid-19 he has been found to develop pneumonia and respiratory distress,” said the GMCH superintendent said.
More people in the age group of 20-40 years are getting infected by this mutant strain.
Currently, four patients are on ventilation and another 60 are on oxygen support at the GMCH.
