KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in Assam is all set to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently.

BPF president Hagrama Mohilary has announced that his party will not align with any of the parties for the ensuing electoral battle.

Mohilary claims that the BPF is leading is Darrang and Udalguri Lok Sabha constituencies and hopes to secure wins in both the seats.

“Our party is leading in both Darrang and Udalguri constituencies,” said BPF president Hagrama Mohilary.

He added: “We (BPF) are hopeful of securing wins in both the constituencies.”

The BPF chief further informed that his party will announce candidates for both the constituencies in the month of March.

He further confirmed that his party has not entered into any kind of negotiation with either the BJP or the Congress.

“We are going into the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently and are in no negotiations with either the Congress or the BJP,” said Mohilary.

The BPF chief further slammed the current Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), led by Pramod Bodo, for allegedly neglecting Bodoland accord day.

Hagrama Mohilary also lamented the lack of respect shown by the Assam government and the BTC towards the ‘martyrs’.

He also urged the people of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) to support and vote for the BPF in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
