Tinsukia: A Women’s Bike Rally was organised at Doomdooma Town Field in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day and promote awareness about women’s participation and empowerment in society.
The rally was jointly organised by Ride All Queens Assam Motorcycle Club and WARIORS (Women Awareness and Rural Invigorate Organisation Cum Radiant Society), Doomdooma branch.
The initiative aimed to encourage women’s leadership, inspire confidence, and raise awareness about their role in building a progressive society.
The rally was ceremonially flagged off by Nuzhat Nasreen, co-district commissioner of Doomdooma. Appreciating the initiative, she encouraged women to move forward with confidence and determination in every sphere of life.
The rally witnessed participation from women riders who rode with pride and determination, symbolising freedom, strength and the spirit of women breaking barriers and redefining possibilities.
Following the rally, a felicitation programme was organised where several distinguished women from Assam were honoured for their dedication and contributions to the development and progress of Assamese society.
Among those present were Kanta Bhattacharjee, chairperson of Doomdooma; Bina Borkotoky, an Indian athlete; Kumuduni Das, a social worker; Mala Deka, Warrior of Tinsukia district; Miranda Deka, secretary of Warior Doomdooma branch; Stifa Lokhonary, founder of Ride All Queens Assam Motorcycle Club; and Rumi Medhi, an NCC officer and member of Warrior Doomdooma branch.
Speakers highlighted the journeys of these women, emphasising perseverance, leadership and the role women play in shaping a more inclusive society.
The organisers expressed gratitude to supporters whose cooperation helped make the celebration successful.
Special thanks were extended to Star Cement for its support, Royal Enfield (SDO) for its encouragement, and Borah Nursing and Maternity Home for its assistance.
The organisers also conveyed appreciation to Ashi Singh, founder of the Delhi-based initiative Girls Don’t Dress For Boys, a movement-driven clothing brand that encourages women to embrace confidence, individuality and the freedom to express themselves beyond societal expectations.
Special acknowledgement was extended to Binojyoti Das, founder of UNNATI and current secretary of the International Sociological Association Research Committee TG3, for his encouragement and continued efforts to promote social awareness and community empowerment.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from organisers and participants to continue building platforms that inspire women to dream fearlessly, lead boldly and contribute meaningfully towards a stronger, more equal and progressive Assam.
