Few years back, a group of socially active housewives and working women of the State had formed a group – Not Just Food (NJF) – for food lovers and creative souls, where one can share her delicious dishes on the social networking site Facebook.

However, this group was not confined only to food-related matters but it has also come out to provide a platform to display the inner qualities of all the members in different fields.

The NJF currently has more than 15000 members.

Besides dedicating their time for the inmates of ‘Old Age Home’, collecting and distributing relief materials for the flood-affected people of the State, the NJF on Sunday organized a day-long medical and health camp at Rani High School on the outskirts of Guwahati city.

As per information, a team of experienced doctors including Dr Pradip Saikia, Dr Balanuj Mazumdar, Dr Monali Thakur and Dr Jinti Rekha Das at the initiative of Dr Nibedita Goswami of KGMT Hospital, Geeta Nagar in Guwahati participated in the day-long medical and health check-up camp and rendered their services to more than 150 patients, mostly village women and children.

In the camp, the attending doctors also interacted with the patients laying stress on the need of use of sanitary napkin. All the patients were offered the required medicines and sanitary napkins free of cost.

Amrita Sarma of NJF, who took the initiative for organizing the medical and health camp, offered a pair of ‘mekhela chador’ to the lady patient who enrolled first. The organizers also offered nutritious food supplements and drinking water to the patients and their children who accompanied them free of cost.

Earlier, all the attending doctors and members of the NJF undertook a plantation drive in the school campus.

Priyakshi Das, President and Anuradha Kalita, Secretary of NJF, while talking to media persons reiterated their commitment towards the society and said that in the coming days some more noteworthy initiatives would be carried out by the NJF.

Members of NJF, Farida Ahmed, Rumina Wahid, Urmi Bharali, Luki Talukdar Saikia, Monalisa Patowari, Priyanka Sarma, Subhalakhsmi Kataki, Snigdha Jyoti Choudhury Barman, Puspita Hazarika Deka and senior most-member Asna Doulah also extended all cooperation towards the smooth conduct of the camp.
