Guwahati: Assam State Women Commission chairperson Angoorlata Deka on Thursday said that the Commission has become โa dependable platform for women facing domestic violence, physical abuse, or mental harassment to seek safety and justice without hesitation.โ
Speaking at the Commissionโs state office at Beltola Chariali in Guwahati, Deka emphasized that the Assam State Women Commission functions as โa reliable place for women to report any form of domestic violence or harassment for their protection and justice.โ
She added that women should โcome forward fearlessly and inform the Commission about their issues so that appropriate action can be taken.โ
Deka informed that a public hearing was held on Thursday at the Commissionโs office to address various cases filed with the body. She said, โThrough this public hearing process, the Commissionโs legal advisory committee and concerned officials participate formally to ensure fair and transparent resolution of all registered cases.โ
Reiterating her vision for accessible justice, the chairperson remarked, โWe hope that every victimized woman will be able to receive justice through the Commissionโs intervention.โ
She further appealed to the people of Assam, saying, โIn the days to come, we want that in any incident of domestic violence or physical and mental abuse against women, they should trust us and contact us directly. We are fully committed to providing justice.โ
Deka concluded her address by urging the women of the state to have confidence in the Commissionโs efforts: โWe request everyone to come to us with faith and trust. We are here to stand by you and deliver justice.โ
Under Angoorlata Dekaโs leadership, the Assam State Women Commission continues to play a pivotal role in addressing womenโs grievances across the state, reinforcing its commitment to empowerment, safety, and justice for all women in Assam.
Deka was appointed on 4th August 2025 and assumed her duties on 11th August 2025.
