A woman in Guwahati’s Hatigaon was allegedly strangled to death by her in-laws over dowry.

The deceased woman has been identified as Dilwara Begum of the Sijubari area.

As per the family of the woman, she married Rupchand Hussain of the same locality six months ago.

But, after their marriage, things turned out to be quite different as she was allegedly harassed by her husband demanding dowry.

As per the girl’s family, with she being harassed and assaulted frequently, she used to complain to her parents and even the boy was assaulted.

Her family further claimed that the Hussain along with his family strangled her to death because of dowry.

However, Hussain has claimed that his wife committed suicide.

The police have detained the family members of Hussain and have initiated an investigation.
