The second day of 59th annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), the apex Bodo literary body at Daoharu Fwthar on the outskirts of Khoirabari town in Udalguri district of Assam witnessed footfall of thousands as people cutting across caste,community thronged the venue spread across an area of 300 bighas on Tuesday.
The day long event kicked off with hoisting of flag by president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS),Toren Boro.

Addressing the gathering, he urged the Assam government to solve various problems related to Bodo-medium education and language.
He also reiterated that the organization has extended its moral support to the anti-CAA protests across Assam and even though the citizenship law will have no impact in the 6th schedule areas the organization will keep a vigil over any nefarious move of the government to rehabilitate any illegal immigrats.

In the open session, seven awards including the Rangsar Literary Award 2019; Someswari Brahma Literary Award 2019; Habraghat Award 2019 were conferred upon litterateurs.
Attending the event as chief guest, Mangaldai MP, Dilip Saikia exhorted the people to give their best in registering their mother tongue in world platform and extend help in one’s respective fields.
He also announced that an amount of Rs ten lakhs would be extended to Bodo Sahitya Sabha from his MP fund.
In the model Bodo village replica built in the venue a Bodo couple Mijing Boro and Moromi Boro also solemnized their marriage with traditional and religious Bathaou ritual.
American linguist, Scott DeLancey from the University of Oregon whose work focuses on typology and historical linguistics of Tibeto-Burman languages as well as North American indigenous languages also graced the event.
The concluding day open session on January 22 will be inaugurated by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Union HRD Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank besides BTC chief, Hagrama Mohillary; Assam Sahitya Sabha president Kuladhar Saikia and Prof D G Rao, director, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) Mysore, will be present as distinguished guests.
Noted singer Kalpana Patowary will perform in the cultural night on the concluding day.
