Baghbor legislator Sherman Ali Ahmed on Monday alleged that the Congress leadership has asked him to stop speaking about minority issues if he wanted his suspension from the Congress to be revoked.
Sherman Ali was recently suspended from Congress for his alleged “communal and provocative” remarks. He was also arrested for the same reason and is currently out on bail.
Sherman Ali has now alleged that Congress had brought in some conditions to revoke his suspension.
Among the conditions, Sherman said that APCC president Bhupen Bora has asked him not to speak to the media and also has asked him to not speak about the minority issues.
He added, “Congress is a secular party but this condition seems to be quite disturbing. I do not understand how could Bhupen Bora put such a condition.”

He claimed that Bhupen Bora had also asked him to join “Asaduddin Owaisi’s party” if he wished to speak about the minorities.
Sherman further added that now with these conditions being in place, he will be consulting with the people of his constituency for taking a firm decision on the entire issue.

“If 51 percent of people in my constituency ask me to stay in Congress and accept the conditions, then I will quit politics. But, if the majority asks me to stand by my grounds, then I will take the matter to the party high command and then the ball will be in their court”, he added.
