Guwahati: A suspected linkman of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was arrested in Charaideo, Assam on Thursday.

Police sources said that the suspect was apprehended from the Sonari area of Charaideo.

The suspect was identified as Tulsi Gogoi (34).

He is a resident of Tenga Pukhuri Koliapani in Charaideo.

Sources said that Gogoi was apprehended on suspicion and his alleged links with the ULFA-I are still under investigation.

It may be that ULFA-I usually uses linkmen to execute certain jobs which are not possible for its cadres to do on their own.

Some of the activities include collecting extorted money and other supplies on behalf of the organisation.

They also engage linkmen to recruit new members for the outfit.

Police sources that the Gogoi’s movement in the past few months are being traced to find out what activities he may have been involved with.
