Udalguri deputy commissioner Dilip Kumar Das has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of Pulakesh Sahariah, who died of bullet injuries after police shot him at Ganakpara village near Kalaigaon in Assam’s Udalguri district.

Police shot Pulakesh Sahariah, son of science teacher Jadab Sahariah, after the youth along with other members of his family went unruly during the performance of unusual rituals including puja putting off their clothes at Ganakpara village on Saturday.

The inquiry will be conducted by additional district magistrate Gakul Chandra Brahma, who is also in charge of Bhergaon sub-division.

Brahma has issued a press communique exhorting the eyewitnesses and locals to place evidences and record their statements at his office from July 10 to July 12 next.

Talking to Northeast Now on Monday, deputy commissioner Das confirmed issuance of the inquiry order.

He informed that the probe will be conducted by ADM Brahma.

He said if anyone wishes to place any evidence or record their statement in this regard they can approach the ADM’s office.

“I have called for police report and only then I can proceed to further inquiry. I seek co-operation of the people, who were present at the place of occurrence for helping me in the inquiry,” said ADM Brahma.

While in a new twist in the case, the mother of Pulakesh Saharia, 50-year-old Punya Kanti Sahariah revealed the harrowing secrets and alleged that the entire sequential event on the fateful day where masterminded by their slain son at the direction of tantric Ramesh Sahariah.

“Our son offered us a special herbal tea and after consuming it we went through hangover obeying his orders,” said the mother of the deceased.

She further added that her son went on a rampage and destroyed their vehicles and other property of the house.

Narrating the ordeal of the family, she stated that their son also coercively ordered the other members of the family to strip off their clothes. “He also set the clothes ablaze and beholding a bone kind of material he kept chanting a series of mantras in praise of Goddess Kali and we just followed his orders.”

On the other hand, science teacher Jadab Sahariah, the father of the deceased, who also had received bullet injury, who is undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, told a section of media that his wife is completely a psychiatric patient and whatever she has revealed before the media should not be accepted to be true.

He held the tantric, Ramesh Sahariah and Kajal Bhuyan, for the whole incident. “Apart from Ramesh Sahariah and Kajal Bhuyan, no other people are responsible for the whole incident,” said Jadab Sahariah.

Jadab Sahariah also said it his only son (Pulakesh Sahariah) who set ablaze several things in his house.
