Guwahati: Two police constables of the Tihu Police Station in Nalbari, Assam were reserve closed after they allegedly assaulted a truck driver near the NH-31.
The constables, identified as Apurba Patgiri and Amit Hajong, allegedly physically attacked a truck driver on National Highway No. 31, causing severe injuries.

According to reports, the accused constables not only assaulted the driver but also snatched cash from him. After the brutal assault, they callously left the injured driver on the road, rendering him unable to stand on his own.

The incident sparked outrage among the locals and truck drivers, who gathered at the national highway to protest against the accused.

They demanded immediate action be taken against the constables responsible for the assault.
To diffuse the tense situation, the police swiftly arrived at the spot. Later, the victim was subsequently admitted to the hospital for necessary treatment.

In response to the gravity of the incident, the authorities took decisive action against the ‘errant’ constables. Apurba Patgiri and Amit Hajong were promptly put under reserve closed pending further investigation into their misconduct.
