Guwahati: At least two men suspected to be drug peddlers were arrested by the police from Boko in Kamrup, Assam about 50 kilometres from Guwahati on Thursday.

The duo was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police with a sizable amount of heroin.

A police source said that the accused were nabbed based on specific inputs.

During the operation, their vehicle was intercepted by the police team based on the inputs.

On searching the vehicle they found at least 30 packets of suspected heroin weighing nearly 420 grams and estimated to be worth more than Rs 3 crore.

The accused were identified as Kabel Uddin (33) and Sabur Ali (52), both residents of Barpeta’s Goroimari area.

All the drugs along with the vehicle were seized by the police and the duo was arrested.

Police sources said that they had tactfully hidden the suspected heroin in the steering console.

The investigations are being carried out by the police to trace their affiliates.
