GUWAHATI: The candidates for the Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency in Assam, Mira Borthakur Goswami and Bijulee Kalita Medhi respectively, have cast their votes.

Both Mira Borthakur Goswami and Bijulee Kalita Medhi were among the first of voters to have exercised their franchise in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

While Mira Borthakur cast her vote at the polling station set up at Narbam lower primary school, Bujulee Kalita cast her vote at Pub-Guwahati high school.

It may be mentioned here that voting process in as many as four constituencies of Assam began at 7 in the morning of Tuesday (May 07).

Four Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam that went to polls in the third phase of elections on Tuesday (May 07) are: Kokrajhar (ST), Dhubri, Barpeta and Guwahati.

The third phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam is set to determine the fate of 47 candidates vying for victory in four crucial constituencies.

Notably, six women are contesting in the final phase of polling in Assam.
