Assam health minister Himanata Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the city will have seven more foot –over-bridges by March this year.
He said this while inaugurating two newly constructed foot-over bridges in Guwahati.

Speaking on the occasion Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “By March, the residents of Guwahati will have seven more foot overbridges.”
The minister also said that 42 new routes will be constructed under the ‘Asom Mala’ scheme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the new scheme during his visit to the state on February 7.

The newly inaugurated bridges have elevators as well as escalators to facilitate the movement of pedestrians, especially differently-abled individuals.
Located in Christian Basti and Ganeshguri on the busy GS Road, these bridges will be open round the clock, though the lifts and escalators will remain operational from 7 am to 2 am on a daily basis.
While the footbridge at Christian Basti has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 10,06,71,000, the one at Ganeshguri has been built spending Rs. 9,88,00,000.
The bridges will also be under 24 hours CCTV surveillance to avoid any untoward incident.
