Guwahati: In view of the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Assam’s capital Guwahati on Sunday (July 7), the Guwahati Traffic Police has issued an advisory in several areas of the city.

The routes that are likely to be affected include GS Road (Paltan Bazar to Six Mile), RP Road (Ganeshguri flyover to Ganeshguri Ganesh Mandir), Kahilipara Road (Ganeshguri Ganesh Mandir to Dakhingaon), Beltola-Basistha Road (Last Gate to Basistha Chariali) and Tripura Gali (Balughat) up to Six Mile flyover, Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Traffic, said in the traffic advisory.   

On the other hand, the other routes that are likely to be affected include VIP Road (Six Mile flyover to Narengi Tiniali), Panjabari Road (Six Mile to Batahguli), Refinery Road (1 No. Salbari to Gopalnagar Trijunction), MRD Road (Bamunimaidam Railway Colony to Hatigarh Chariali), Mother Teresa Road (Gita Mandir to Zoo Road Tiniali), AT Road (Paltan Bazar to Ulubari Chariali) and BK Kakoti Road (Ulubari Chariali to Arya Nagar), the traffic advisory read.

Moreover, the AK Azad Road (Lalganesh to Nepali Mandir), AK Dev Road (Fatasil Chariali to Dhirenpara), MD Shah Road (Nepali Mandir to Godhuli Bazar), MG Road/DG Road (Gauhati High Court to Maligaon Chariali) and SJ Road (Kumarpara Panchali to Athgaon bridge) route is also likely to be affected, it said.

The Guwahati Traffic Police has advised the general public to avoid the stretches of road as mentioned above as far as possible for smooth commuting, the traffic advisory further read.
