Digboi: Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan on Wednesday visited Digboi along with MLA Suren Phukan and senior officials to inspect two proposed development sites in the constituency.

The inspection covered the proposed Integrated Government Office Complex at No. 1 Borbil and the planned relocation site for the weekly Sunday market at Tingrai.

The Integrated Government Office Complex is planned on around 100 bighas of government land at No. 1 Borbil and has received approval from the Chief Minister.

Once completed, the complex is expected to bring several government offices under one campus, including the Sub-Divisional Commissionerโ€™s Office, Block Development Officerโ€™s Office, Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings) Office and Revenue Circle Officerโ€™s Office.

Officials said the project is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and reducing delays in public service delivery.

Preparatory work for the project has already begun, according to officials.

In a separate initiative, authorities are working on shifting the weekly Sunday market from Tingrai Tinali to a new location to address traffic congestion and sanitation issues in the area.

The proposed relocation site is a plot of land belonging to the Agriculture Department at No. 1 Axomiya Gaon, which was also inspected during the visit.

Officials said the relocation is expected to ease traffic movement, improve cleanliness and provide a more organised marketplace for traders and customers.

MLA Suren Phukan said the two initiatives would improve infrastructure and governance in the constituency.

The inspection was also attended by Sub-Divisional Commissioner Phyllis V.H. Rangchal, senior officials, elected representatives, panchayat members and local stakeholders.

Officials said both projects are expected to move forward in the implementation phase.
