Timber logs seized at Bhairabkundal in Udalguri district

The 23rd battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have seized 18  pieces of valuable timber logs from Bhairabkunda along the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam’s Udalguri district.

The security force had received information about timber smugglers cutting down valuable trees and smuggling timber across the border.

The SSB jawans in collaboration with the officials of the Assam forest department conducted an operation on Sunday morning and seized 18 pieces of timber.

The team also recovered a portable saw and seven bicycles from the spot.

However no one has been arrested so far in connection to the case.

The seized timber logs were later handed over to the forest beat office under the Dhansiri forest division in Udalguri district.
