Army and police in a joint operation have nabbed three proscribed ULFA (I) rebels at Namrup in Upper Assam Dibrugarh district.

The 244 field regiment of Army and police apprehended the ULFA (I) cadres, said a police official.

The cadres were identified as Rantu Sonowal alias Maina, 25,  Bidyut Charingia alias Maina, 19, and Jishu Borah, 27.

While Rantu hails from Khowang area, Bidyut is  a resident of Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district and Jishnu is from Karbi Anglong district.

One.22 pistol, two number of live ammunition, one magazine, two ULFA (I) flags and three mobile handsets were recovered from their possession.

A case (no. 159/ 2019) under section 120(B)/121/122/384/387 IPC R/W Sec 25(I)(A)  Arms Act,  R/W Sec 10/13 UA (P) Act has been registered against them.
