New Delhi: Hyundai Motor Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tezpur University on May 15, 2026, to collaborate under the Hyundai Centre of Excellence (HCoE), marking a first-of-its-kind initiative for the university.
The Hyundai Centre of Excellence is a research and innovation platform established by Hyundai Motor Company with leading Indian academic institutions to advance future mobility technologies.
The focus areas include electric vehicles, battery technology, battery management systems, energy storage and safety, and sustainable mobility solutions.
Under the agreement, the collaboration will concentrate on research in battery technology and electric vehicles, with Hyundai expected to invest around Rs 16.37 crore in the project.
This also marks Tezpur Universityโs first major industry-sponsored research partnership with a global automobile company.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from Hyundai Motor Group and Hyundai Motor India Limited, including Chang Hwan Kim and Tarun Garg.
From Tezpur University, Amarendra Kumar Das, Soumik Roy, and Manashita Borah were present at the event.
With this agreement, Tezpur University joins a network of premier institutions under the Hyundai Centre of Excellence, including IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad, and VNIT Nagpur, strengthening its engagement in advanced mobility research and innovation.
