Tea garden workers receiving financial assistance under CBDPM scheme in North Lakhimpur

Several people of the tea tribe community have received financial assistance under the Assam Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela (CBDPM) at the Koilamari Tea Estate in North Lakhimpur.

Lakhimpur MP Pradhan Baruah distributed copies of sanctioned amounts to the beneficiaries during a ceremonial distribution of the third phase of CBDPM held at the Koilamari Tea Estate on Thursday.

Launched in 2017-2018, the CBDPM is a scheme to bring tea labourers closer to the banking sector and thus promote cashless transactions.

The Assam government had introduced the scheme to extend the fruits of demonetization to people of the tea community, who had opened their bank accounts during the period of demonetization by crediting an amount of Rs. 2,500 in each of their accounts.

A total of 6,58,250 tea garden workers had opened their bank accounts during that period.

Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta, Lakhimpur BJP district president Phanidhar Baruah and state executive member Manab Deka along with bank officials, tea garden management and state government officials were present on the occasion.
