The aim of the journey is to spread the message of India’s victory and the sacrifices of war heroes to the remotest area and shores of the country.

On this fortuitous occasion, ex-servicemen from the Dhubri district too were honoured and facilitated accordingly.

The commanding officer of 25 Rajput Regiment Col. K Pawar, BSF’s DIG of Dhubri Sector Headquarter JC Naik, Dhubri deputy commissioner Anbamuthan MP and superintendent of police Abhijit Gaurav along with other veterans and serving soldiers of Red Horns Division interacted with all ranks.

The speakers emphasized the valour displayed by the Indian brave soldiers during the 1971 Indo-Pak war for achieving historic victory.

BSF’s DIG of Dhubri Sector JC Naik, who was present as the chief guest at the event, motivated the troops to continue their relentless devotion to the service of the nation.

The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was taken to Mahamaya Char Border Outpost (BOP) across the Indo-Bangladesh international border through Dhubri town via mighty river Brahmputra for the public to pay tributes to the heroes of the 1971 war.

Notably, last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lit the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial in Delhi on December 16, the day which is celebrated by India as Vijay Diwas to commemorate its victory over Pakistan during the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh.

And since then, the victory flame is travelling across the length and breadth of India and a large number of commemorative events are being conducted during its journey.

The ‘Mashaal’ would be further travelling to Tamalpur via Agia for its onward journey through the surrounding landscape of Assan, said army sources.
