As preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID19, the Dima Hasao district administration has prohibited spitting in public places, use of tobacco and sale of liquor in the district.

This is a part of the guidelines issued by the Dima Hasao district administration in view of the whole nation entering into the second phase of COVID19 lockdown.

After the 21-day nationwide lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from March 24 midnight, the Union home ministry through an order extended it up to May 3, 2020.

Asking the citizens to strictly adhere to the fresh guidelines, the Dima Hasao district administration in a statement on Sunday said there is a “strict ban on selling of liquor, gutka, tobacco, etc. and strict prohibition on spitting in public places”.

The district administration has also made wearing face mask compulsory for all in public and workplaces.

The district administration said in case anyone is found guilty of not following these orders, the person will invite section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and legal action will be taken under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other legal provisions.
