An elderly person receiving the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Mangaldai

The district health services on Thursday organized a special session of Covid-19 vaccination for the elderly and differently abled persons at the urban health centre of Mangaldai in Assam’s Darrang district.

77 elderly persons and differently abled individuals received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the special session.

Many of these people were reportedly facing difficulty in availing the vaccine because of a huge rush in vaccination centres as well as a shortage in adequate stocks of the second dose of the vaccine.

A total of over 25, 300 second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Darrang, of which 641 doses were administered during the past three days.

A total of 1,02,000 first doses of the vaccine have so far been administered.
