Guwahati: Senior BJP leader and former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal took the oath again as a Union Minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a ceremony overseen by President Draupadi Murmu, Sonowal pledged to serve the nation with dedication, taking the oath in the name of God.
Sonowal, a prominent figure from the Northeast and Assam, expressed his gratitude and commitment to his role.

“With utmost humility, I accept this opportunity to serve as a Union Minister in the NDA Government led by our dynamic leader, Shri Narendra Modi ji. It gives me immense pleasure and happiness to serve the people of this beautiful and dynamic country,” said Sonowal, the MP-elect from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.
He thanked the people of Dibrugarh for their support, stating, “On this historic occasion, as Narendra Modi ji leads the NDA to form the third consecutive government at the centre, I want to especially thank the people of Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency for their love, faith, trust, and blessings. I reaffirm my absolute commitment to serve our country with complete dedication.”

Sonowal highlighted the significant development achieved under Modi’s leadership over the past decade, which has transformed India into the world’s fifth-largest economy.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to making India one of the top three economic superpowers shortly.
“Each one of us in the Union Council of Ministers is dedicated to working tirelessly for the nation. India will now move swiftly towards new heights of peace, prosperity, and progress,” Sonowal added.
Recently elected as the MP from Dibrugarh with a margin of over 279,000 votes, Sonowal previously served as the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and Ayush in Modi’s second term.
He also held the position of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports in the first Modi-led NDA government in 2014.
