Union Ports, Shipping, Waterways and AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the 12th Dibrugarh Book Fair on Sunday.
The fair is being organised by the Dibrugarh Milan Jyoti Sangha in association with the All Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association.

The book fair, started on November 26, will continue till December 7, 2021.
Union minister Sonowal visited the stalls and interacted with book lovers & visitors to the fair.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Union minister Sonowal said books bind together communities, languages and open the vistas of knowledge for all.

“I hope, this book fair will attract more people towards reading and make the young generation open their minds to the vast vistas of knowledge that literature opens up,” the Union minister said.
Union minister attended the first biennial session of Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha in Dibrugarh on Sunday and ceremonially released 50 books on the occasion.

Addressing the people, Union minister Sonowal said, “Since its inception, the Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha has played a strong role in the development and spread of Assamese and indigenous literature.”
Language and literature enrich communities and give life to their culture.
“To preserve the existence of our indigenous languages and literature, their daily use and dissemination are essential. I call upon the Sonowal Kachari Sahitya Sabha to unitedly work towards that aim,” he added.
Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, SKAC CEM Dipu Ranjan Makrary, ATDC chairman Rituparna Barua, SKSS president Guneswar Sonowal, Sonowal Kachari Jatiya Parishad president Tonksswar Sonowal, Sadou Asom Sonowal Kachari Nari Santha chairperson Rashmirekha Sonowal and various dignitaries were present.
