The Assam Cabinet, chaired by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday, decided to appoint sprinter Hima Das as the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and approved the amendment to the Integrated Sports Policy for the state.
Chief minister Sonowal chaired the meeting of the Assam Council of Ministers (CoM) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.
Ahead of the ensuing State Assembly polls, a number of decisions were taken in the meeting of the Sonowal Cabinet on Wednesday.
“The CoM approved amendment to the Integrated Sports Policy for the State for appointment to medal winners of Olympics, Asian Games, CWG (Class 1) and medal winners of World Championships senior (Class 2) officers. Hima Das will be appointed as Dy. SP,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The CoM also approved the Cyber Security Policy for the state.
The Energy Conservation building code for the state was also approved by the CoM.
“All commercial buildings will have to abide by these regulations,” the CMO said.
The CoM decided to start the Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley (Silchar) with 6 departments including Personnel, R &DM, GAD, Agriculture, Fisheries, AH&V department.
“Giving a major relief to consumers, the CoM decided to provide free electricity in all households for consumption of up to 30 units a month,” the CMO tweeted.
The CoM approved renaming of the Hills Areas Department as Assam Sixth Schedule Council Department.
The CoM approved the establishment of Bodoland and 6th Schedule Areas Administrative Staff College.
