Guwahati: The Assam government officially signed a strategic agreement with Google on Wednesday to develop advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, aiming to position the state as Indiaโ€™s AI Hub in the Northeast.

Speaking about the initiative, Science & Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta said the state is focusing on strengthening technical infrastructure and AI expertise to ensure transparent, efficient, and faster public services for citizens.

Under the agreement, Google Cloud will provide technical support to various Assam government departments, helping enhance officersโ€™ performance and streamline the delivery of government services through AI solutions.

The partnership will also establish an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence in Assam, designed to make government administration more public-oriented, effective, and data-driven.

Officials described the collaboration as a historic step in Assamโ€™s journey toward becoming a leader in AI innovation in the region, combining technology with governance to improve citizen services.
