The Gauripur police in Assam’s Dhubri district has arrested a school teacher for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl.
According to police, the incident happened at Piyajbari village under Gauripur police station on Thursday evening.

“On Thursday’s evening, the accused teacher, who was alone in his house, called the minor girl at his residence and molested her.”
According to locals, the victim’s mother on not being able to find her daughter, reached the accused’s house and rescued her from the grip of the accused teacher.

Upon learning about the incident, the locals of the area, gheraoed the accused teacher’s house and assaulted him. Later, the accused was handed over to the police.
The accused has been identified as Hasem Ali (54), a school teacher of Piyajbari ME School under Gauripur police station in Dhubri district.
A case, under Sec 342/376 AB/511 IPC and Section 8 of POSCO Act, has been registered against the accused teacher at Gauripur police station based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.
“We recorded the statement of the victim and arrested the accused and further investigation is underway,” informed officer-in-charge of Gauripur police station.
