Guwahati: As campaigning for the upcoming by-elections in Assam continues, a flying squad on Thursday seized Rs 4.53 lakh from a vehicle in Bongaigaon.

According to reports, the flying squad deployed to keep a close watch on unauthorised activities during elections seized the money during a search in Bongaigaon’s Chakapara.

The team in total seized Rs 4,53,421 from a person identified as Abdul Malek while searching a vehicle registered AS19AC3618.

It may be mentioned that voting for the Bongaigaon Assembly constituency is scheduled for November 13 along with four other constituencies.

The election commission had imposed a model code of conduct since October 18 making certain activities prohibited.

One of the prohibitions includes carrying large amounts of unaccounted cash.

Reports said that the investigation regarding today’s seizure is being investigated.
