Assam Rifles jawan commits suicide

In a shocking incident, an Assam Rifles jawan allegedly committed suicide by firing at his head with his service pistol at Khanapara’s Assam Rifles transit camp in Guwahati on May 10.

The 37-year-old deceased has been identified as Rajinder Singh, who hails from Gurdaspur in Punjab.

According to Dispur Police officials, Singh who was a driver in Assam Rifles shot himself with his 9 mm service pistol at around 11.30 pm on May 10.

Police suspect family matters as reason of his suicide.

Dispur Police informed that Rajinder Singh carried some Assam Rifles Jawans from Dima Hasao’s Haflong to Khanapar’s Assam Rifles transit camp in Guwahti who later shot himself inside the vehicle.

Later police recovered the body and sent to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post mortem.

Further investigation is on.
