Assam has registered 568 new COVID19 cases, taking the state’s overall positive cases to 14,600.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said out of the total positive cases, 355 patients are from Guwahati alone.
The health minister advised the citizens of Guwahati not to panic and take proper.
“Alert ~ 568 new #COVID19 patients recorded in Assam today, with 355 patients from Guwahati City alone. I advise Ghy people not to panic & take proper care,” health minister Sarma said.
The health minister shared that a total of 9,147 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they recovered from the disease while 3 cases have migrated from the state.
With the death of 5 COVID19 positive patients on Thursday, the overall death toll in Assam has increased to 27.
The active cases in Assam now stand at 5,423.
India has registered more than 7.69 lakh COVID19 positive cases and over 21,000 deaths till date.
The country saw a record single-day surge of 24,879 COVID19 infections which pushed the nationwide COVID19 caseload to 7,67,296 on Thursday, while the death toll climbed to 21,129 with 487 new fatalities, according to the Union health ministry data.
