Four more positive patients succumbed to Covid19 infections in Assam on Friday, taking the state’s death toll to 938.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 said:  “Sad to share the demise of four #COVID patients in Assam.”

The deceased have been identified as Tarun Chakraborty (54) of Dibrugarh; Samir Chetia (68) of Sivasagar; Salehuddin Ahmed (75) of Kamrup Metro and Tirtha Nath Dutta (59) of Sivasagar, health minister Sarma informed.

“Condolences & prayers! Om Shanti,” Sarma said.

Meanwhile, Assam has registered 335 new Covid19 cases on Friday, taking the state’s positive tally to 2,08,389.

Health minister Sarma in a tweet said the news cases were detected out of 25,883 tests.

“335 Cases detected out of 25883 tests conducted today, with positivity rate of 1.29%,” Sarma said.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has recorded 97 cases.

The health minister informed that 926 more patients were discharged on Friday.

The discharged cases crossed the 2 lakh mark on Friday, taking the total to 2,00,381, which is 96.15% of the total positive cases.

Assam currently has 7,067 active cases, which is 3.39% of the total positive cases.

The state’s Covid19 death rate stands at 0.45%.
