Assam reported 20 more Covid19 deaths and 1,213 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Confirming the news, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday evening said the new cases were confirmed out of 53,848 tests.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district registered 140.

The state’s overall positivity percentage was 2.25% on Sunday, according to the data shared by the chief minister.

Hundreds of patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, recovered from the disease on Sunday.

Assam’s Covid19 recovery rate stood at 94.56% on Sunday, chief minister sarma informed.

“Summary of 04/7/2021 –  Today’s Total 1213; Overall Positivity Percentage (1213 cases out of 53,848 test done = 2.25%); Kamrup(M) 140; Death 20;  Recovery Rate 94.56%,” Sarma tweeted.

On Saturday, Assam reported 28 Covid19 deaths and 2,375 new positive cases.

The new cases on Saturday were confirmed out of 1,34,085 tests.

The state’s overall positivity percentage was 1.77% on Saturday.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district reported 168 cases.

On Saturday, the state’s Covid19 recovery rate stood at 94.24%.

Meanwhile, India registered 43,071 new Covid19 cases in the last 24 hours.

The country’s active caseload declined to 4,85,350 on Sunday.

A total of 2,96,58,078 people recovered across the country so far and 52,299 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

India’s recovery rate increased to 97.09% on Sunday.

The weekly positivity rate has remained below 5% and it currently stands at 2.44%.

The daily positivity rate stands at 2.34%, less than 5% for the last 27 consecutive days, the Union health ministry said on Sunday.
