Assam reports 2 more Covid19 deaths, 169 new positive cases

Assam registered 165 new Covid19 cases and 2 more deaths on Thursday, taking the state’s death toll to 985 and the positive tally reached 2,13,336.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Thursday said: “Sad to share the demise of two #COVID patients today.”

The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Surjya Bh Limbu of Tinsukia district and 76-year-old Karuna Kanta Bhattacharjee of Dibrugarh district.

“Condolences and prayers. Om Shanti,” health minister Sarma said.

In his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status on Thursday, Sarma said the new cases were detected in the state out of 28,008 tests.

Assam’s positivity rate stands at 0.59%.

“165 Cases detected out of 28008 tests conducted with positivity rate of 0.59%,” health minister Sarma tweetd.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district has reported 48 cases.

Meanwhile, 177 more patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, have been discharged on Thursday.

The percentage of the recovered cases in the state is 97.89%.

Assam currently has 3,505 Covid19 active cases, which is 1.64% of the total cases registered in the state so far.

With the death of two more positive patients on Thursday due to the Covid19 infection, the death toll increased to 985 in the state.

The state’s death rate stands at 0.46%, according to the data shared by health minister Sarma.
