Assam minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma promised to provide the people of Sarania-Kachari community with scheduled tribes status if the BJP is voted to power in the Bodo Territorial Council (BTC) polls.
While campaigning in Khoirabari in Udalguri district on Monday Sarma urged the people to vote for BJP candidate for Khoirabari BTC constituency, Bhaben Bodo and pave the way for inclusive growth and development where every community will have equal land rights.
The BJP will ensure that people live with dignity and avail the benefits of all government welfare schemes in a transparent and time-bound manner.

“The people of the region have suffered for the past 15 years and their presence in our campaign meetings bears testimony that BJP will form the government in the council,” said Sarma, who is also the North-East Democratic Alliance convener.
He promised to abolish the Village Council Development Committees (VCDC) system in the BTC, set up a State Bank of India (SBI) branch and regular bus service under the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) from Khoirabari to Guwahati.
He also spoke of initiating stern measures against erring government officials in the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR).
