Lakhimpur: Chandra Kamal Gogoi, renowned artist, art teacher, and philatelist, died on August 13 (Tuesday) at Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital in Lakhimpur, Assam after a prolonged illness.

He was 78 years old.

Born in 1946 in Pohumora, Nowboicha, Lakhimpur district, Gogoi completed his matriculation from North Lakhimpur Govt HS School and graduated from DHSK College in Dibrugarh.

He further pursued his passion for fine arts at Viswa Bharati in Shantiniketan, Kolkata.

For over four decades, Gogoi dedicated himself to nurturing young talent through his fine arts school, Kala Niketan, in North Lakhimpur. His lifelong commitment to art earned him the prestigious Bishnu Prasad Rabha Award in 2022.
Gogoi is survived by his wife and two daughters.
