Assam records 591 new COVID-19 cases

With COVID-19 being a major concern, Assam has reported 591 new cases on Wednesday.

Among the 591 cases, Kamrup Metropolitan has reported 279 cases.

The state also reported four COVID-19 related death.

As per the health department, the 591 cases out of 34,314 tests.

The positivity rate stands at 1.72 per cent.

Assam on Wednesday also reported its first two Omicron cases.

The first Omicron case in Assam was detected in Kamrup Metro’s Sonapur with a 13-year-old boy being detected with the virus.

The second case of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 was detected in Assam’s Hojai.

As per the health department, the new case has been identified as Ahmed Hussain.

The cases in Assam are on a rise and the state on Tuesday evening, logged 475 new COVID-19 cases. 

Single-day COVID numbers in Assam spiked by 124 on Tuesday evening as compared to Monday.
