The district health authority in Lakhimpur has ordered an inquiry against a private hospital for allegedly flouting norms by a private nursing home in North Lakhimpur following the death of a patient.

The patient, a resident of Ward No. 14 of North Lakhimpur died in Royal Treat Hospital in Khelmati in North Lakhimpur on the night of March 14 which triggered tension the nursing home.

The family members of the deceased patient accused the attending doctor of wrong treatment as he died after being administered an injection.

The family members also alleged the hospital authority showed reluctance in giving oxygen to the patient. As the situation became tense the owner of the nursing home Tarun Dutta along with the staff and nurses escaped from the hospital.

Later a group of paramilitary force was deployed in the nursing home to meet any eventuality emanating from the situation.

The Lakhimpur unit of Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) along with Bajrang Dal, Hindu Yuva Chatra Parichad and AAMSU demanded action against the management of the hospital by the concerned authority.

In a joint statement the four organizations alleged that the Royal Treat Hospital did not have a qualified pharmacist.

They also alleged the violation of Clinical Establishment Act by the hospital and demanded strict action by the state health minister.

Following the incident the Joint Director of Health, Lakhimpur has ordered an enquiry against the alleged irregularities by the hospital authorities.
