Pro-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) general secretary Anup Chetia on Wednesday said he would not speak against United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) C-in-C Paresh Baruah for the greater interest of the Assamese community.
“Despite having a lot to speak against him (Paresh Baruah), I won’t speak only for the interest of the greater Assamese community,” Chetia said during a press conference at Guwahati.

Lashing out at Paresh Baruah’s statement that pro-talk ULFA has no merit as well right to ‘bargain’ with the government to gain something, Chetia said, “Everything will be clear after signing of peace treaty if the peace talk process with the government of India ends fruitful.”
“We are doing our best in the peace talk process with the government,” Chetia said.
Cheita further refused to talk about whether Paresh Baruah should come forward for peace talk process or not.

Talking about many dissimilarities of pro-talk ULFA with ULFA (I), he said, “The pro-talk ULFA does not want to involve in argument with ULFA (I) C-in-C Paresh Baruah on the issue of Rebati Phukan’s whereabouts.”
Chetia said the mystery of disappearance of Rebati Phukan, an active member of People’s Consultative Group (PCG), should end.
“Justice should be given if he has been murdered and ULFA (I) should make it clear if Phukan has joined the organization or not,” Chetia said.
PCG was formed by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in 2005 to initiate the peace talk process between the government of India and the outfit.
