Assam polls UPPL candidates

Guwahati: The United Peopleโ€™s Party Liberal (UPPL) has named Phanidhar Basumatari as its candidate for the Dhekiajuli Assembly seat, completing its lineup for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

The decision was cleared by the party leadership after internal discussions among its key committees. This step marks the finalisation of all UPPL nominees for the April 9 polls, with the details shared publicly.

Earlier, on March 19, the party released another set of candidates focusing on the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The list was approved by party president Pramod Boro after consultations within the organisation and was issued from the party office in Kokrajhar.

In that round, candidates were announced for five seats: Pratibha Brahma from Baokhungri, Ayub Hussain Mondal from Parbotjhora, Ranjit Basumatary from Sidli-Chirang (ST), Pabitra Baro from Goreswar, and Rabindra Basumatary from Mazbat.

In a separate announcement, four more candidates were named: Rakesh Brahma from 42 No. Baksa (ST), Nityananda Basumatary from 72 No. Gohpur, Baburam Basumatary from 66 No. Barchalla, and Manoj Basumatary from 28 No. Boko-Chaygaon (ST).

UPPL leader Pramod Boro filed his nomination papers on March 20 from the Tamulpur (43) Assembly constituency at the District Commissionerโ€™s office.
