Guwahati: Abdur Rashid Mandal, representing Raijor Dal, officially filed his nomination for the East Goalpara Assembly seat on Monday, March 23, in the presence of a large group of party supporters.
After completing the submission process, Mandal identified eviction as the central focus of his campaign, framing it as the main concern for voters in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
“Eviction will be the dominant issue in East Goalpara this time,” he said, noting how displacement affects local communities. He also criticised the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a BJP ally, for staying silent on the matter.
“Even as part of the ruling coalition, the AGP has not addressed eviction or responded to the Chief Minister’s remarks. It will be interesting to see the constituency’s reaction,” Mandal added.
His statements suggest a strategy to mobilise voters around local grievances, particularly among those impacted by eviction drives.
A large turnout of Raijor Dal supporters was observed during the nomination filing in East Goalpara.
