Guwahati: Pradip Baruah has been named the joint opposition candidate for the 57-Kaliabor Assembly constituency in Assam.
He will run on a Raijor Dal ticket, receiving backing from key opposition parties including the Indian National Congress and Assam Jatiya Parishad.
The announcement forms part of a wider strategy to present a united front against the ruling alliance in the upcoming state elections.
Separately, the Indian National Congress released its fourth batch of nominees for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on Friday, March 20, putting forward candidates for seven constituencies.
Under the seat-sharing arrangement, 11 constituencies have been allocated to Raijor Dal, reinforcing the collaborative approach among opposition parties.
The move is part of a coordinated effort by opposition parties to back a single candidate and challenge the ruling alliance in the forthcoming Assam assembly polls.
