Assam Police has been honoured with India Police Award 2020.
The police force of Assam was honoured with the award at a virtual ceremony on Thursday for Assam Police Sishu Mitra, a novel child-friendly policing initiative launched in collaboration with
UNICEF India and UTSAH Child Rights Organisation.
Confirming the news, Assam Police on its Twitter handle on Thursday said: “We are delighted to inform that ‘Assam Police Sishu Mitra’, a novel Child Friendly Policing initiative launched in collaboration with @UNICEFIndia & @utsahassamOrg won the @bygovernancenow India Police Award 2020, today.”
The award was received by Harmeet Singh, ADGP (admin/border/security/border), Assam.
After receiving the award IPS officer Singh tweeted: “Privileged to have received the

The Assam Police Sishu-Mitra Programme Assam was launched by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a function held in Guwahati on August 22, 2019.
The initiative has been envisioned to promote child-friendly policing in Assam.
