The executive director and asset manager of ONGC Assam Asset, S.D. Maske, inaugurated three CSR initiatives of the corporation on Wednesday worth more than one crore at Nazira town in Sivasagar district of upper Assam.

Financial assistance of Rs.36.54 lakh towards beautification of Gandhi Maidan (Park), Rs. 48.78 lakh for construction of Shutter Sluice Gate, RCC drain of 100 metres to mitigate the flooding concern in the town was extended to Nazira Municipal Board.

For harnessing the solar energy as to keep streets of the town well lit in all weather conditions Rs.24.00 lakh was extended for installing 136 solar street lights under clean and green initiative.

Further, it is will also help in overcoming a power deficit in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Maske said, “ONGC is committed to improve the development index of the operational areas.”

Referring to the street lighting initiatives, executive director Maske observed that it helps in giving confidence and security to the common people especially women and children to walk on the streets even when the power falls.

“ONGC always remains grateful to the people of Assam and the government authorities for their extensive cooperation in the company’s national duty of exploring oil and gas. When oil flows, nation grows,” he underlined.

ONGC has been proactively extending financial assistance to the initiatives to enhance education, self-employment skills, Swachh Bharat, women empowerment, health for the needy as per the prescribed norms of the Government of India, Maske underscored.

ONGC has been passionately indulging in society’s development much before the concept of CSR has become buzzword of the corporate world, Maske observed.

Further, he expressed his profound gratitude to the district authorities for aligning as a team with ONGC to extend benefits for the people of Assam.

Rajiv Thapa, additional deputy commissioner (in-charge), Nazira Sub-division, lauded the efforts of the ONGC for undertaking social development initiatives in the region.

He assured of all cooperation for the operations of ONGC.

Dilip Kr Hazarika, chairman, Nazira Municipal Board, appreciated the ONGC for its unstinted support for the development of the Nazira town.
