Bajali: A tragic road accident in Assam’s Bajali killed a Class 10 student and left two others critically injured, raising grief and concerns about road safety and parental responsibility.

The deceased, a Class 10 student from a local school, succumbed to injuries late last night while undergoing treatment at Barpeta Medical College and Hospital (BMCH).

The accident occurred on Saturday at Bhagmara in Bajali, when a Maruti Swift car, reportedly driven by another Class 10 student, met with an accident. Four students from the same school were injured in the mishap.

Following the accident, two of the students were admitted to BMCH, while the other two were shifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment.

According to hospital sources, two of the injured remain in critical condition, with doctors closely monitoring their health.

Confirming the death, BMCH Principal Dr. Ramen Talukdar stated that the Class 10 student succumbed to injuries despite all medical efforts.

The incident has left the area in grief, with locals, teachers, and well-wishers expressing sorrow over the untimely death and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured students.

Meanwhile, the accident has sparked serious criticism in Bajali, with many questioning how a minor and Class 10 student was allowed to drive a four-wheeler, highlighting concerns over parental negligence and road safety enforcement.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to the incident.
