Tripura Assam: One arrested for shooting man in leg in Rangia

Guwahati: A verbal altercation turned violent in Rangia of Kamrup, Assam as a man was severely injured after allegedly being shot at by another person on Thursday night.

The incident was reported in the Dipti Nagar locality of Rangia on Thursday midnight.

The suspected identified as Jyotiprakash Sharma shot Mridul Baniya in the left thigh.

The incident occurred after a heated argument between the two individuals over some personal reasons.

The injured immediately after being shot informed the police.

Sharma, who has a history of brandishing his “licensed” 0.32 mm pistol and intimidating locals, was immediately apprehended by police, who seized his firearm.

The injured victim was rushed to Nalbari Medical College for treatment.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Locals following his arrest have demanded for strict actions against him.
